Music transcends time and cultures. It’s something that can trigger emotions such as joy, sadness, anger, compassion, pity, patriotism, courage, and inspiration with ease. From disco to hip hop, from country to rock and roll and from jazz to classical music, they have left a permanent mark in history. The music you implement may be influenced by songs from games and songs from real life. Basically, from anything and everywhere. Custom created ones are also welcomed. We would love to see and hear what YOU can composed, what YOU can design, what YOU can conduct, what YOU can PLAY, SHARE and CREATE. If you feel like you have already generated a masterpiece, enter the contest by clicking here or any of the other methods provided. The level does not have to be new. The ‘April Tales’ contest sure has a story to tell!!!
First of all, stories tend to be the driving force of most games in all of gaming history. LittleBIGPlanet is no exception. We all loved and enjoyed playing. I assure you that we did. I have actually passed it a couple of time myself since I loved it so much. After most of us in the community finished it, we were left craving for more. Since Online Create was introduced, dedicated players developed remarkable ones. Deducing from our review list, story levels is one of the types most created. Some, even continuing the LBP storyline. Here, in the LittleBIGReviewers, we acknowledge that and thought that it was only logical to pay tribute to such a compelling concept that drives both games, movies and life alike.
Since this month’s contest video was posted, it was covered by Sackcast, LBPMedia and even Media Molecule. It has gotten over 1000 views in around just the 2 weeks it has been on. To make things a bit different, we decided that those that submitted a costume that matched their story would receive an additional point to their overall score. Technical difficulties occurred, but as they say in show business: “The show MUST go on”. We knew there were some great story tellers out there and must admit that these entries exceeded even our wildest expectations. Some had perilous platforming and prodigious puzzles while others had bewildering boss battles. They just keep getting better as these contests roll on. We feel honored by having the privilege of playing these levels that were made by such talented authors. As month’s pass, less and less trophies are left. Don’t give up though. We have had players enter numerous competitions before and eventually win because they perfected their craft.
Seeing that this contest has been prolonged long enough, here are the results.
The winner of the LittleBIGReviewers’ April trophy competition (‘April Tales’) is:
‘Ship Wreck’d’by PacJonno
CONGRATULATIONS!!!!! You won a LBR Platinum Trophy
With a nice opening, this level literally took us from coast to coast as we set sail into the sea where we battled a giant serpent. The story is simple, but it good enough to drive the level with ease. The ships and the docking bay looked great as details were applied to everything. Even the sails were curved to indicate wind. The serpent felt like it had real life as it toppled our little escape ship. Having defeated the slithering snake a huge tidal wave washed us into shore. The wave looked tremendous and huge. The author applied the 3D glitch and he did so marvelously. A hint of humor was added to the mix by a comment made by the captain. There is a very fun mini game once you are on land where you must help Conga(the monkey), gather some coconuts. The obstacles that followed felt rather new with the pleasing surroundings. It is a level were you must be light at your feet and really really fun. The level has a great balance of the story with all the other aspects we take into consideration. The author further cemented his position by submitting the costume.
