Ladies and gentlemen, Sackboys and Sackgirls, its just a bit past midnight and the highly anticipated “A September to Remember” competition has now reached its peak with the winner being announced further on in the post. Before I do, I would like look back at the long journey (pun intended, you will know soon enough why ) that started it all. Months of planning were already in the works before the competition was even a whisper in the LBP community. We noticed that a vast amount of players craved for something else, but could not quite place their fingers on it. We on the other hand, were developing what we consider the greatest gift we could award to our fellow knitted comrades. I’m referring to our LBR PLATINUM TROPHY. Once announced (September 1st), our idea was embraced by everyone with much joy. Like most projects, setbacks took their course. Thanks to the amicable and generous LBP community, we were quickly offered (by several members) a new dwelling place for our competition to continue. Here, in our new web page, we believe that future competitions will run stronger than ever having broader opportunities and bigger concepts. Several are already planned while other are still in their brainstorming stage. The next competition will be announced very shortly and with a couple of twists that should bring more smiles to the LBP community. Thank you for all your support and especially to the whole SackCast team for making us one of their own. We are truly humbled and we will never forget this September.
Now, without any further delay, the winner of the LBR Group’s “A September to Remember” level competition is…
“A Journey” bySyroc CONGRATULATIONS!!!!! You won the first LBR Platinum Trophy
Overview:
This author has been an active member of the community for quite some time now. With 9 levels published and 231 author hearts, he is truly one of LBP’s great contributors. His platform/puzzle style level was chosen as the victor because we consider that it embodies precisely what classic levels are composed of. The level goes between three main environmental transitional themes. The first one locates the player upon a well crafted worn out boat while the sea under it is one of the best artificial bodies of water in LittleBigPlanet to date. One then ventures into a dim lit cavern. Attention to sound details has been implemented all throughout the level making every single aspect be brought to life. The constant and yet subtle changes in both the music and lighting is done with ease. Small candles that illuminate the player’s path are made with a custom base. The author cleverly introduces the player into the second theme which I would say is focused in times of chivalry. There are object found within this area like a windmill and some gears that simply look and sound amazing. When the gears slightly stop just as when they gathering power and then continue to function is really neat. The generator powering the windmill looks incredible as well. From this point, the player must mount a contraption that is powered by several balloons. You then land in a swamp and make your way into an underground cave which leads to the final area of the level. This area appears to be some temple ruins. This is my favorite area since I consider that it has the best lighting, sound and environment. Hidden passages with score bubbles are also present making it a delight for players to find. What really confounds our minds is that so many concepts were capable of being applied into a single level. Everyone who plays it will have an enjoyable journey through this multithemed masterpiece.
Who watches them? Apparently Media Molecule does, as they have announced today Watchmen DLC to be released this Thursday, October 1st. Coincidentally that will also be the day we announce our new contest. One or two days before we will announce the winner of “A September to Remember.”
This is a costume and sticker pack only. Here’s a little video. It only lasts 19 seconds, don’t worry about wasting your time. Heck, by the time you read this, you could have watched the video.
The September contest decision, for the A September to Remember contest, will be coming soon, sometime before October 1st. We have played all the valid entries and only have yet to decide who is the winner.
When we decide and announce the winner, we will contact that person to obtain the information required to send them their trophy.
I hope you’re all excited! We are too! And enthused, animated, fired up, on edge, steamed up, and thrilled. And any other token words you can find in an online thesaurus. I used thesaurus.reference.com, for further reference.
The new edition of the weekly…well, semi-weekly…well, whenever they feel like it…Sack it to Me is out. It contains a few interesting things, such as some new community levels courtesy of LBP Central, a tips video from Mm on how to keep the thermometer low, and all sorts of good stuff.
So follow the link and go check it out. You don’t know when they might update it again.
This has been a long time in the making. We have been stickied and have reached a landmark in reviews, with over three hundred to date. Due to this, we decided that it was time provide a bit of an incentive to keep being creative. As you can see, this is our custom LBR (LittleBIGReviewers) Platinum Trophy. They are made out of galvanized steel and they have been treated so that they last you a lifetime. A plasma cutter was used to slice through the steel, making sure to have smooth edges. It stands at a total of 13 centimeters. Sackboy measures his actual height of 8 centimeters while in a stance unique to us. No two trophies are alike since part of the process is done by hand. TOWERS_85_87 has toiled, making sure that the base is solid. So each is unique from one another. Consider the trophy as an acknowledgement of the winner’s proficiency of creating levels and in no way has any monetary value. The value it has is sentimental, a feeling of pride that you have accomplished something significant. You will not find this anywhere else. They are exclusively found and won here on Sackcast . Is that the doorbell? Go check, it might be waiting for you.
You DO NOT have to pay for anything. Just participate and hope you win.
Any person from around LBP (the world) can compete.
The submission must be a level and a level only, fan art, objects, videos, etc.
Competitions will be held with and without Creative Restrictions to keep things fresh.
Competitions will be held once a month.
Players will have 3 weeks time to create and submit a level. The player must pick and submit only one entry per competition.
The last (4th) week of the month will be used by us to judge the submitted levels.
The level submitted must be your own. No copied levels. We will make sure to check each one
Once the deadline has been reached, we will pick the best submitted level and that one will be the winner.
We will consider the following when selecting the winner:
Originality
Creativity
Sounds
Visuals
Design
Gameplay
Replay value
When someone wins, that person may not compete in the immediately following competition. Consider it a grace period so that other players may have a chance to win. We will be keeping a list of the winners, so do not even try to get sneaky.
Even if your level has been reviewed by us it may still be submitted for the competitions.
Competitions will be held more than once so do not get discouraged if you do not win the first time around.
If your submitted level did not win you may either resubmit it in the following competitions or submit a different one.
The winner’s level will also be posted in our “List of Winners.”
It would be great if the winner posts or sends us a photo of the him/her posing with the trophy when they receive it. It may also be a photo of the location where the trophy is placed.
The only judges will be gocubsgo2 and myself (TOWERS_85_87).
As full time reviewers and judges, we are not eligible to enter the competition.
Occasional reviewers may compete, but cannot review levels submitted for competition.
It’s all right to tell us what you think in a post, but do not send us personal messages asking us to send you a trophy without being the actual winner. Doing so will get you automatically disqualified from any current and future competitions. It will only leave us with a bad impression if you try to claim you won the trophy if you didn’t.
Decisions made by full time reviewers’ (gocubsgo2 & TOWERS_85_87) in any aspect of the competition shall be final.
Come by our LittleBIGReviewers thread. Get your levels reviewed, promoted and played. You may also look for great levels to play through our list of over 300+ levels reviewed.
The solutions for the riddles provided for the trophy can be read here.
Thanks goes to Sackcast for making a blog post about the trophy on their site. Go listen to them!
