Here, we have for you this month’s (March Madness) trophy contest video. It took us a while to create and record. Gocubsgo2 uploaded it a short while ago. We would like to personally thank our friends Samalot and BARBED-WIRE. They appear in the video. Zzbobber appeared in last month’s video (Friendly February) and we would like to give a big thank you to him as well. The video embodies our One Year Anniversary as we demonstrate some of the key facts and ingredients that helped inspire and create our wonderful trophies. For the rules and to enter click here.
Some of the things we had in mind were:
Players saying that they finished the game.
Players had attained all them LBP trophies.
Players who desired to acquire recognition for their hard work.
Our ingredients:
The idea (Light bulb)
The dedication (Heart)
The knowledge of how to make the trophies (Brain)
The discipline (The crown)
The tools (Metal)
Finally , the spark that helped ignite it all. The LittleBIGReviewers (The Missile)
Also in honor of our One Year Anniversary, here is the video that started it all. This is the one that shows the trophies being made. We hope you all enjoy.

We had teams of two and three members participating. The themes and concepts varied broadly between them all. They ranged from Artic and Egyptian themed puzzlers and platformers to light saber battles, sticker galleries and a western. The main question is everyone’s mind right now is, which team combination packed the greater punch?
**Drum Roll**
Now, after much fun and excitement, the winning team of the LittleBIGReviewers’ February Level competition (‘Friendly February’) is:
“A Tale of the Sea to Win a PSP” by KodeRiter722, ekelrock & mrgenji CONGRATULATIONS!!!!! Each of you has won a LBR Platinum Trophy.
A Tale of the Sea to Win A PSP #1
A Tale of the Sea to Win a PSP #2
This friendly trio really brought all their skills and artillery. Just as the level opened up, we knew were about to embark on a marvelous journey. The introduction is one of the best best we have ever witnessed. The way the pirate ship made its entrance while it towed the level’s title into the screen emitted a nice vibe. It was then followed by some neatly designed characters. One of them was an avid PS3 gamer who shifted his arms up and down as he held the controller. The other character present was an elderly man, who without a doubt, seemed to know much about life at sea with his white bushy beard, yellow raincoat, big black boots and walking cane. He stood up from his rocking chair and carefully stepped towards the boy. The movements given to them were eerily realistic and mesmerizing. The elder told of his adventures at the high seas; which served as a smooth transition to the core gameplay of the level.
A Tale of the Sea to Win a PSP#3
A Tale of the Sea to Win a PSP#4
We found ourselves in the boiler room of a ship. As we made our way through some machinery derived obstacles, we saw how huge and majestic it was. Metal food carts rolled back and forward in the hallways trying to block our path Water suddenly started to rise from below and we quickly found an exit through a flight of stairs and took a plunge into the cold waters.
A Tale of the Sea to Win a PSP #5
A Tale of the Sea to Win a PSP #6
After climbing into a rescue boat, we got swallowed by a giant sea creature and made our way onto an island. After an encounter with a cute and mischievous coconut throwing chimp, we passed by a fiery volcano.
A Tale of the Sea to Win a PSP #7
A Tale of the Sea to Win a PSP #8
Thinking that this level could not get any more epic, we then swim with mermaids and other sea critters and reach Atlantis. The structures and the scenery were incredibly constructed. The way in which the building, leaves and column stickers were placed and implemented was nothing short of outstanding. The water mill looked great too.
A Tale of the Sea to Win a PSP #9
A Tale of the Sea to Win a PSP #11
A Tale of the Sea to Win a PSP#12
A Tale of the Sea to Win a PSP #13
A Tale of the Sea to Win a PSP#14
At the end, credit was properly given to all of those involved in this inspiring piece of work. You might be asking yourself, what is the level’s name referring to? Well, to put it simply, the people from LittleBIGNetwork.com are currently running a contest where you can win a PSP (PlayStation Portable). In order to win it, you must conjure up a level that embraces a tale of the sea. We asked ourselves, will any of their entries match the caliber that they have set themselves? Time will tell and we encourage you to try. Good luck to all of you who enter it.

Since a couple of months ago, when Online Create was introduced to LBP, we decided thattwo tofour of our delightful trophies will be awarded as a nice surprise to our contestants when the time came. Conveniently, several other Online Create contests have spawned around LittleBIGPlanet community sites so YOU now have an opportunity to showcase your cooperative masterpiece to everyone. Here are the details:
February Competition Name: “Friendly February”
Creative/Eligibility Restrictions: Every and any type of a single level can be submitted by a minimum and a maximum of two(2)to four(4) authors. The PSN ID (Playstation Network Identification) of your partner(s) should be mentioned either in the level’s description and/or with a magic mouth placed in the level.
Deadline for submitting an entry: Wednesday, February 24th, 2010
Winner will be announced on: Sunday, February 28th, 2010
Notes: When entering, make sure to write all the names of the authors involved. The PSN ID (Playstation Network Identification) of your partner (s) should be mentioned either in the level’s description and/or with a magic mouth placed in the level. Any way you see fit. Surprise us .
A promotional video will be made and posted shortly.
What type of group will you have? It is completely up to you.
Tag Team:
A two player team usually means that these two authors are highly capable of doing more things with less players. It could also be an advantage when creating since you do not depend on many players. These two members typically have great and dynamic communication between them.
Triple Threat:
Having three members on a team helps when decisions are being taken. This is due to the fact that there will never be a tie in the votes. This team is specifically effective when one is unable to create something another one can lend a hand, while at the same time, the third member continues his/her work undisturbed. This amount of players (3) is still pretty manageable and are able to create great things.
Fatal Four:
Talking about numbers, this team is packed to its full capacity. With the maximum allowed number of members, this team is sure to pack a punch. Skills tend to be vast and varied among them. There is usually a designated team captain; which directs others into generating in what could be an epic level. At the same time though, the level would mean nothing if it were not for the creative skills of the team mates. Whether it be visuals and sounds to mechanics and gameplay. Having this amount of members could be a disadvantage since they tend to be hard to manage. It all depends on group communication.
The twist added for this month’s contest is that those that implemented real water in the gameplay would receive bonus points. We noticed that the eager participants did not take this possible advantage lightly. Some of these levels were truly spectacular. We must admit, this is THE FIRST time that we (the judges) had such a difficult time proclaiming the winner. Do not get us wrong, we have had great levels in the past, but we never experienced judging like this. We carefully debated about all the scoring aspects back and forward for hours on end to finally determine the winner.
Now, without further delay, the winner of the LittleBIGReviewers’ January Level competition (‘A New Year for LBP’) is:
“LBL:LRRS and the Sneaky H4H3r!!” by Mnniska CONGRATULATIONS!!!!! You won the LBR Platinum Trophy
Overview:
From the quirky looking level icon to the well designed characters, this level is very charismatic and well polished. Every aspect is truly professional. Especially the segments where the author simulates a story being read and the part with the custom made level title with the crown placed on top. The firefly swaying on front of this sign was a nice touch of detail. Mnniska never seizes to amaze us with his colorful visuals and creative mechanics that compose his varied gameplay . The Little Red Ridding Hood story is well adapted, developed and is nicely carried. Little Red Ridding Sack (LRRS, as the title implies) is quite innocent and naive while the Big Bad H4H3r is astute and deceiving. The way he expresses himself as he relishes the hearts he finds along the path is greatly executed. The emotions of each character are highly cherished due to the noticeable dedication that was placed into developing them. The selected voices suit them perfectly. Since you portray both characters, the author colors you with black paint to help you differ when you are playing each character accordingly. ‘Help’ signs are thoughtfully placed throughout the level to aid the more novice players in the puzzles. It is quite rare to come by such a piece of work. Water was nicely used at a portion of the level thus allowing the author to receive the appropriate points. We played this level on several occasions and are highly anticipating the sequel.
Honorable mention is given to the following members for their great efforts.

The LittleBIGReviewers made part of Sony’s famous and most recent LittleBIGPlanet blog called ‘Sack It To Me’ entitled ‘ The 2010 Kickoff ‘ . Our current two contests were mentioned and our video was added. We are truly honored that we got that privilege. We are going to make sure that February’s contest video is just as good as our first ones. We were rather busy the days around the time we made our latest contest video, but promise to bring you something to really look forward to for our next one. You can check out the ‘ Sack It To Me ‘ post here. A link to the Sony site was also added to our blogroll found to the right-hand side of our web-page along with all the other great LBP sites like LittleBIGLand, LittleBIGPodcast, LittleBIGPlanetGuide and LBPCentral who were also mentioned in the latest Sack It To Me.
On a side note, we are working on the LittleBIGReviewers’ Green Sunset level series and hope to release them all as soon as we can. Also, there are two weeks left to submit your level for this month’s competition. Remember that the deadline is January 27,2010. Click here for more details.
An avid follower of our group (pavypavy) suggested that we provide this list. We were more than happy to oblige. Seeing as the group is reaching a year of its birth and that a new year has commenced, we compiled the following list of the top 9 best levels reviewed in 2009 by category. Note that some several categories just had too many great levels and we could not remove them. Instead, we left them in the list for all of you to enjoy. We did not change the title of this list since it sounded catchy. We bet you probably think the same Here is the list:

This month has been filled with goodies for the LBP community. Some straight from Media Molecule with the introduction of the Pirates of the Caribbean Level and costume packs. The release of the water feature for LittleBIGPlanet is also a great addition. Countless crown contests are also currently being held. We do our part with running our monthly contests; where players get the chance of winning a real trophy. Before the year is over, we thought it would be nice to award one of our monthly gifts to the most talented author. It’s almost the end of the year now and the moment to unveil the fourth winner of our monthly contests has come. This month’s level competition focused of Christmas themed levels. We wish you all a very merry Christmas and a prosperous new year!
The winner of the LBR Group’s SackMas level competition for the trophy is:
“A Heartless Night in Christmas Town” by MrTran CONGRATULATIONS!!!!! You won the LBR Platinum Trophy
Overview:
This fascinating level really brought a smile to our faces with all of the shimmer and glow it radiatedsjust as we step foot in it. Contrary to the title of this level, the author demonstrated a lot of heart. It is quite an exceptional combination between famous franchises like Kingdom Hearts and the Nightmare Before Christmas ( as read in the title) and the author’s own admirable finesse. The level’s layers were effectively utilized with its design being quite uncommon. The scenery and gameplay constantly shifts keeping everything fresh. Its dark background ideally serves to take notice of how very animated the level is with its vividly colored enemies, constantly shifting objects, a flying carpet ride over a distant country and a warm welcoming abode at the end. The custom fonts are truly incredible and the level itself provides a unique experience that anyone would love to go through in any time of the year.
Special thanks goes to all the following LBP members who entered the competition:
Note:
We recommend to you give these levels a run. They are really fun and worth it. All levels have been hearted or will be really soon. A photo of us (gocubsgo2 and myself) has been uploaded to each level respectively.
